Welcome to Singapore, the Lion City!

Welcome to Singapore, the Lion City! With its vibrant mix of cultures, stunning modern architecture, delicious cuisine, and lush green spaces, Singapore offers a unique travel experience that is sure to captivate you. Whether you're a food lover, shopaholic, nature enthusiast, or history buff, there's something for everyone. I have now visited 3 times and I plan to go again next year. Singapore is ever- evolving. You can visit multiple times and do and see new things each visit.

Start your journey in Singapore with a visit to Marina Bay Sands, an iconic landmark known for its impressive architecture. Take in breathtaking panoramic views of the city from the SkyPark observation deck, go shopping at high-end boutiques, or try your luck at the world-class casino. Don't miss the nightly light and water show at the Spectra, a mesmerizing display of music, water jets, lasers, and fireworks.

Right next to Marina Bay Sands, you'll find the stunning Gardens by the Bay. This award-winning horticultural attraction boasts futuristic Supertrees, giant tree-like structures that light up at night. Explore the Flower Dome, the world's largest glass greenhouse, and the Cloud Forest, a mist-filled conservatory with a captivating indoor waterfall. Don't miss the nightly Garden Rhapsody light and sound show. If I was visiting Singapore and had to pick only one thing to do, it would be this!

Immerse yourself in Singapore's rich cultural heritage by visiting Chinatown. Explore the vibrant streets lined with traditional shophouses, visit the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, and browse through the bustling street markets for unique souvenirs and delicious street food. Try the famous chicken rice or indulge in a steaming bowl of noodles at one of the local hawker centers. The food is just delicious. It is safe to eat street food here, so please do give it a try. I also recommend a trip to Little India to experience the sights, sounds, and flavors. Explore the colorful streets filled with spice shops, sari stores, and flower garland vendors. Visit the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore, and savor authentic Indian cuisine at the local eateries. We were lucky enough to visit during festival celebrations and the whole experience was glorious.

My next love in Singapore is Sentosa Island - old or young, the Island has it all. It is a popular resort island filled with attractions and entertainment options. Relax on the pristine beaches, visit Universal Studios Singapore for thrilling rides and shows, or interact with marine life at the S.E.A. Aquarium. You can also enjoy cable car rides, zip-lining, and adventure parks, making Sentosa a perfect destination for families and adventure enthusiasts. I stayed for 3 days on the Island but I could have stayed longer. Universal studios is smaller than in the US but every bit as good. The rides, the shows - just wow!

  1. Orchard Road:
  2. For a world-class shopping experience, make your way to Orchard Road. This famous shopping belt is lined with luxurious malls, department stores, and boutiques offering everything from high-end fashion to electronics. Indulge in retail therapy, dine at international restaurants, or catch a movie at one of the state-of-the-art cinemas.
  3. Singapore Botanic Gardens:
  4. Take a break from the urban landscape and visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the lush greenery, admire the stunning orchid displays at the National Orchid Garden, or simply relax by the serene lakes and enjoy a picnic. Don't miss the Symphony Lake, where you can catch free outdoor concerts by local musicians.
  5. National Museum of Singapore:
  6. Delve into Singapore's history and culture at the National Museum of Singapore. Explore the interactive exhibits, art installations, and multimedia displays that showcase the nation's heritage. From ancient artifacts to contemporary art, this museum offers a comprehensive overview of Singapore's past and present.
  7. Haw Par Villa:
  8. Step into a surreal world at Haw Par Villa, a unique theme park that features over 1,000 statues and dioramas depicting Chinese mythology and folklore. Explore the Ten Courts of Hell exhibit, stroll through the gardens, and learn about Chinese legends and moral teachings. It's a fascinating and somewhat eccentric attraction that offers a glimpse into Singapore's cultural beliefs.
  9. Singapore Zoo and Night Safari:
  10. For animal lovers, a visit to the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari is a must. Experience the world-renowned open concept zoo, where animals roam freely in their natural habitats. Get up close and personal with orangutans, giraffes, and white tigers. In the evening, head to the Night Safari, the world's first nocturnal wildlife park, to observe fascinating nocturnal creatures in their element.

Remember to try Singapore's diverse culinary delights, from mouthwatering street food at hawker centers to Michelin-starred restaurants offering a fusion of flavors. Don't miss iconic dishes like Hainanese chicken rice, chili crab, laksa, and satay.

Singapore is a city that seamlessly blends tradition with modernity, creating a captivating destination that will leave you with unforgettable memories. Enjoy your visit to the Lion City!

Last week The Travel Ladies took off on an adventure to Orlando. We were tasked with having a great time, but without visitng a single theme park. I was a bit concrned as usually when I am in Orlando, that is all I do - Grab my most comfy shoes and trek the parks from rope-drop until I cant walk any longer. Does anyone else do this?
